Ash Wednesday
It feels like Advent and Christmas are only just behind us yet today we begin the season of Lent. This morning our Year 5 pupils led us in a beautiful reflection, preparing us for the weeks ahead. The significance of Lent and the events of Holy Week can be very difficult for our youngsters to understand but as ever, our older children expressed this so simply through their thoughtfully written prayers and reflections. Rather than ‘giving something up’ for Lent, we are encouraging our children to make Lent a time for bringing joy to others. This Friday the Caritas team have organised a talent show for children of all ages to raise money for St Joseph’s Penny. All the children are very excited; it’s going to be great fun for us whilst bringing joy to those less fortunate. The GIFT will be leading prayer and reflection throughout Lent and the Caritas team will no doubt find more opportunities to bring joy to our community. I am always so grateful to them for their fantastic commitment and contributions to the Catholic life of our school.
