Lockdown Updates
This continues to be a very difficult time for our whole school community. The majority of our children remain at home and are sitting out, what feels like, a very long lockdown. When we locked down last March, it was all very new and frightening but the sun was shining and there was hope that everything would be back to normal very quickly. Ten months on, we still find ourselves in the middle of the frightening pandemic; its colder and the days are short. It can be very difficult to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
It’s easy to think of all the things that have been taken from us and that we can’t do; meet friends, go to the cinema, days out with relatives. The shops are closed, the parks are quiet and the usual hustle and bustle has fallen flat. We only see our friends on a screen and we miss the daily interaction that school life brings.
In February, the month of love, we should try to remember all the things that we still have to help see us through. We have somewhere safe to live and the company of those closest to us. We have our school, albeit online, with daily interaction with our teachers and friends. We still have fresh air and nature to enjoy as we get our daily exercise. We have each other – our St William of York family to which we all belong.
We are delighted that the vast majority of children are fully engaging with their learning and we can see and speak to them everyday. They will receive that constant message that we may not be with them but they are very loved. We are still together but in a very different way. We all hope and pray for the day that we can safely open the school again so we can be reunited as a family, living in Christ’s love.
A Prayer for those feeling anxious at this time
Jesus you are with me.
I share each anxious thought with you.
I am not alone, you understand.
Here I will shelter, safe in your love,
Held by your Grace, freed by your truth.
Thank you that you are with me.
